VINTAGE FORTUNE TELLING DECK

This unique set of cards was hand drawn in the 1930s. It was crafted after the popular Gypsy type decks of the turn of the century. However, the depiction of the men and women in *this* deck places its creation firmly in the 1930s. This unknown artist seems to have closely followed the format of the Isobel Strong (1899) & Isobel Field (1923) decks.

The original, from which we have made these copies, comprised 45 hand drawn & painted cards glued onto 45 linen weave bridge playing cards. The image on the back of the cards is a charming 'Dutch' boat scene.

With these 45 cards are 'To Tell a Fortune', the accompanying notes by the artist which include: 'Meanings', 'Linked Meanings' and  'variations' all on matching cards for easy reference.

The artistry of these cards is naive, stunning and sincere. And they have been telling fortunes for nigh on 80 years.
